Can I host my ZlioShop under my own domain name?
Yes, you can!
This is how it works:
Let’s imagine you’ve registered the domain Mobinews.com with a service provider such as godaddy.com, regsiter.com, etc…, and you want your shop to be hosted under the address shop.mobinews.com.
It’s really very simple!
The first thing you need to do is list the new name in the Properties page of your ZlioShop. When logged in to your account, click on the “My Zlio Shop” button on the navigation bar, choose “General Settings” and then click on the “Address” tab. Near the bottom of the page, you’ll be given the option to enter “Your own Domain Name“. Enter the domain name (in this case, shop.mobinews.com) and click on “Save Changes“.
The next thing you need to do is to configure the new domain name to display your ZlioShop. This varies from domain to domain, and you’ll need to consult your website provider’s instructions for more details, but the following steps which apply to a particular registrar might help you get a general idea:
- Log on to you website provider’s website, and select the relevant domain name (in this case, mobinews.com).
- Find the “Domains & DNS” option in the control panel, and click on it, and then click on the “DNS Zone” option.
- You then need to create a CNAME entry. Click on “Add CNAME entry” to proceed.
- You will then be asked for the following information:
· Sub-domain - in this case, this is “shop“, because you want your shop to be hosted at shop.mobinews.com
· Destination - this should contain your shop’s address (for example, “yourshop.zlio.com“).
And that’s it! The domain should then point to your shop, within the next 24 hours!
